Few weeks back, Bamenda – North West Region of Cameroon registered its first COVID-19 case.
Today, North West Regional Delegate of public health, Dr. Kingsley Che Soh says the number now stands at 44.
“Among , there are 26 active cases, 9 recoveries and 9 deaths” he says.
“With 3 of the 9 deaths recorded in the community and not in hospital, Dr Kingsley says all 9 corpses were safely buried by the medical team in the presence of their family members.
“All the contacts of these have been counselled, quarantined and shall be tested at the indicated moment” he notes.
The official continues to highlight the need for preventive measures including limiting inter urban travels as much as possible.
The North West Region was one of the last to be hit by the virus in the country. Cameroon now has over 2,000 positive cases of the virus.
