Government shutdowns ‘amba’-run schools in Kumbo

Forces of Law and Order have reportedly shut down some school in Kumbo, Bui division of the North West region which were said to be run by Ambazonia fighters.

The schools were operating on some church premises and are said to have been funded by Ambazonia fighters.

One of such is said to have been operating at the Roman Catholic church in Meluf where the kids all studied in one large hall.

The shutting down of these schools comes as one of the first actions taken by the newly appointed Senior Divisional Officer for Bui who is said to have been attacked days back.

In June, the United Nations, stated that some 1.3 million people, including around 650,000 children, are now in need of some form of humanitarian assistance in the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon, as the security situation and living conditions continue to deteriorate.

Around 450,000 of these people, half of whom are children it added are internally displaced.

To keep the education process ongoing despite the conflict, Ambazonia fighters in some parts of the troubled regions had said they would operate their own institutions of learning.
