The Cameroon government has organized a seminar in Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon, to encourage and assist local flour promoters in the country.
The ongoing Russian-Ukraine crisis has permitted many countries to come to the realization of the importance of engaging into the production of some commodities independently. This is the case with flour production in Cameroon.
The conditions sorrounding flour shortage in Cameroon have been deteriorating, resulting in the increase in prices of bread and other products.
To this effect, some Cameroonians resorted to finding alternative sources which involved the production of flour from local crops such as cassava, potatoes and many others.
It is therefore in this light that the government organised a workshop which had as aim to assemble local flour promoters who together will forge a way forward towards the independent and massive production of flour in Cameroon.
“We are here to launch a seminar concerning local flour, so we seize the occasion to say to those promoters of local flour to work hand in hand with the ministry of Economy. This platform will permit promoters of local flour products to be accompanied by the administration,” noted Aboubakary Haman, Secretary General of the Littoral Governor.
According to the local flour promoters, the workshop will go a long way in helping them create a market oriented association, where most of the losses incurred will be reduced.
