The population of Mbengwi came out to bid farewell
Mbengwi, the chief town of Momo Division, was filled with shock and sorrow as the mortal remains of Pa John Conerben, a respected businessman and community figure, arrived. A sizable crowd assembled at Mbon Park in Mbengwi, grappling with the heartbreaking news of his passing, as they awaited the arrival of his body.
John Conerben was tragically killed by armed individuals at his home in Njinibi during the night of Monday, July 29th, into Tuesday, July 30th. The community is in a state of disbelief and mourning following his sudden and violent death. Conerben’s passing is deeply felt by the Mbengwi Central Subdivision, as he was highly regarded for his active involvement in local affairs and his generous nature.
According to sources in Mbengwi, it was reported that Conerben was spotted attending a church service just two days before the incident on Sunday, July 28th. During the service, he made a generous thanksgiving offering. This recent public appearance has further contributed to the community’s shock, as numerous individuals struggle to reconcile his lively demeanour with the sombre truth of his passing.
Additional reports indicate that Conerben’s wife was also a victim of the attack, enduring physical assault from the assailants. The reason for the attack is still unknown, and local authorities have not yet provided extensive information on the situation.
The body of Conerben has been placed in the Mbengwi mortuary, where it will be kept until the funeral arrangements are finalised.
