Heavy military deployment to Anglophone regions ahead of February twin elections

350 elements of the gendarmerie on board fifteen military trucks are reported to have arrived Buea in the South West region of Cameroon Monday 6 January 2020.

According to Col. Nchinda Henry; commander of South West gendarmerie legion, the gendarmes will be dispatched to the six divisions of the south west region .

Col. Nchinda has cautioned the military men that crime wave has been on the rise in the region following the activities of separatists.

He advised proper investigation by the military to avoid punishing innocent people in the community.

According to The Standard Mirror News site, a month to municipal and legislative elections 2020, Col. Nchinda has stated that the military men are to get themselves acquainted with different towns and villages in the different divisions before election day.

The action concretised President Paul Biya’s declaration on the 31st of December 2019 to use the military to ensure a hitch free election in Cameroon most especially in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
