Awudu Mbaya Cyprian died this morning

The former member of Parliament for Nkambe in the Donga Mantung division of the North West region of Cameroon is no more, family and village authorities have announced.
Honourable Awudu Mbaya Cyprian passed on at midnight on June 3, 2023, in Dallas, Texas in the United States of America, after a protracted illness
“His Royal Highness, the Fon of Njap, The Royal Family of Njap, and The AWUDU Family in Cameroon, is saddened to inform the national and international communities of the passing unto glory of our Husband, Father, Brother, Grand Father, and Great grandfather Hon. Dr. Ta Nformi Yinkfu Awudu Mbaya Cyprien,” The Fon of Njap, announced in a public statement.
While burial arrangements are being made, the Fon called on, the “Wimbum Community all over the world, the Political Community in Cameroon and abroad, business associates, trading partners and collaborators in Cameroon and abroad, Cameroonians, Africans of good faith and the world at large to keep us in their prayers as we mourn the loss of our dear father.”
It should be recalled that Awudu Mbaya Cyprian was one of the most influential and successful businessmen and politicians from the Donga-Mantung division of the North West region.
Besides owning several businesses, the man who hailed from Njap village served uninterrupted four terms as a member of Parliament for Nkambe.
He went to Parliament in 1997 under the ticket of the Social Democratic Front, SDF.
Hon Awudu Mbaya Cyprian occupied several positions in the bureau of the National Assembly including Secretary, and later Questor. He was also elected Chairman of the pan African Parliamentary Network for Climate Change.
After spending 20 years as an elected representative, he rejected seeking re-election in 2020 due to the armed conflict in Anglophone Northwest and Southwest regions.
In a press conference, he declared, “I will not March on blood to go back to Parliament”
He retired from public life and later took ill. He was flown to the United States for medical attention where he was bedridden for a while before giving up the ghost.
His death has been described as a big loss to the Wimbum community, North West region, and Cameroon as a whole.
