Hundreds missing following Bakassi shipwreck

At least 100 people are still missing after a ship which was heading to the Tiko Wharf from Keita Bakassi.

“Over 200 passengers and crew were on board the capsized ship. But the BIR assisted with the rescue of 106. Most of the crew certainly went down with the vessel,” a source told Mimi Mefo Info.

The ship with over 200 passengers from Nigeria heading to Tiko sank in the middle of the high seas, Sunday August 25, 2019.

Reports say the ship christened Yacht was transporting workers of Ashouka went down in the evening around Bakassi.

It is still unclear what provoked the shipwreck.
