In a bid to clear the air about the news circulating about her getting married, Cameroonian gospel artist Indira Baboke has contradicted the information by posting music cover art.

This comes five days after she posted on her social media handles a photo of herself in a wedding gown in a place that looks like a council wedding hall with some guests around her.

Accompanying this photo was another, which was a table stand indication that read on it, “I&E. Welcome to our wedding. No pictures, please,” and gave no further explanation.

This led many to see this as an official confirmation of earlier rumours circulating that she had secretly gotten married. Her fans easily bought the notion of her getting married because the artist has never posted herself in such a dress before. Many raised questions about the identity of her husband, which they felt was being hidden from the public eye.

The next day, the artist proceeded with another set of photos of her and her supposed husband, who looked a little bit older than her for a young lady of just 21.

The news was published by the media and many blogs, and it went viral. Much credibility was given to the story by the fact that some of her friends congratulated her via their different social media handles. An example is popular tik-toker Diana Bouli, who wrote: “Congratulations, my sister. I am proud of you”.

It was only after the information had gone viral for 5 days that Indira came out to clear the air by posting a music cover art indicating that all along it was just images from her soon-to-be-released single “Tout sauf la honte” (everything else except shame), which is set to be released on August 11, 2023.

With a total of almost 2 million followers on all her social media accounts, many of her fans have expressed their disappointment in her, questioning why she would use such a misleading and disrespectful stunt just to promote a music video.

Many were more disappointed, as they had already sent out their congratulatory messages to her and now made them look like fools. Many are criticizing her for using the wrong strategy for music promotion.

“I understand that worldly people can go this far for a buzz. But for someone who claims to be a Christian and God’s child, it is absolutely ridiculous to create such an unnecessary buzz just to announce a music video,” said one of her angry fans on Instagram.

“From the quality of this buzz, I can already perceive trash in this song. It is a pity your father even joined in organizing such a buzz,” added another angry fan in her Facebook comment section.

Worthy of note is that this is not the first time Cameroonians have pranked fans to get social media reactions.
