Jakiri municipal councillors kidnapped

It is the fouth day today Friday November 22nd 2019 that nothing has been heard about councilors of Jakiri council in Bui division, North West region. An unknown number of councilors were kidnapped Monday this week by boys who identified themselves as restoration fighters.

No specific reason or reasons have been advanced for what has been considered as a “massive arrest”. To some inhabitants, the kidnap of councilors of the Jakiri council at a time when politicians are compiling documents for municipal and legislative elections is intended to frustrate any political ambition of running for the elections next year.

In Kumbo still in Bui division, members of the post national dialogue sensitization caravan arrived the town yesterday and are expected to address the population today. Information from a reliable source has indicated that the convoy of the caravan was attacked on the way to Kumbo yesterday.

Ambazonia fighters had earlier warned the population not to attend any rally aimed at preaching the contents of the national dialogue.
