Japoma Stadium hosts first match today

Intermediate Lions of Cameroon will take on a division one football club, Union Movement Sportive (USM) de Loum at the Japoma stadium in Douala beginning from 7:00 pm Cameroon time Monday, December 28th, 2020.

This will be the first match to take place in the newly constructed 50.000 capacity stadium in Douala.

The number of spectators to be permitted into the stadium in respect to COVID-19 preventive measure has not been stated.

The match, according to local football officials in Douala, is to give a foretaste of what Douala city dwellers should expect from the 16th of January 2021 when the African Football Championship(CHAN) starts in Cameroon.

They insist that the official inauguration of the stadium has not been programmed.

On Sunday, December 27th, 2020, the Intermediate Lions lost to Stade Renard of Melong zero goal to one at the Reunification Stadium in Douala.

The Intermediate Lions have intensified training ahead of the African Football Championship.

They will play the opening match in Yaounde against Zimbabwe on the 16th of January 2021.
