After 41 years in power, President Paul Biya is receiving still receiving promises of “total support” and “resounding success” in the 2025 elections as some elites of the East Region, led by Minister Joseph Le, say he is their candidate.
Joseph Le, who is the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, promised unflinching support to President Biya as a way of thanking him for the recent construction of a referral hospital in Bertoua, headquarters of the East Region.
The hospital, which is now the biggest health facility in the Region, was inaugurated by the Head of Government, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, last week.
For realizing this hospital project, President Paul Biya, who is 91 years old and has served for 41 years, should rule Cameroon again, according to Joseph Le.
“On behalf of the Eastern Development Platform, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, for this further materialization of the Great Opportunities policy,” Minister Le wrote on X.
“Total support and resounding success in the next elections,” he added.
Cameroonians are expected to head to the polls next year for Presidential, Legislative and Municipal elections.
President Paul Biya, who is the natural candidate of the ruling CPDM party, has received numerous calls from militants and sympathizers to stand again.
The President Biya has yet to make his intentions known as to whether he will seek reelection or not.
So, if he does go in for reelection, his supporters in the East Region already have his back.
The recent inauguration of the Bertoua Regional Hospital Centre came after similar inaugurations in the Far North, West, and South regions.
It is part of a government policy to improve healthcare in the country, but CPDM fanatics now use it as their party’s achievement.
