Journalist Mbombog Mbog Matip Emmanuel has been released from prison after spending over a year in detention.
The disabled Journalist was arrested in August 2020 from his house in Yaoundé by armed men in plain clothes.
He was later charged by the authorities for the propagation of false information. He was held at the Secretariat of State for Defence (SED) where he was reportedly tortured.
While in prison, at Kondengui, reports say he was threatened and severely beaten, resulting in wounds all over his body.
There were multiple requests from journalism associations and human rights organizations for the journalist to be released.
