June session of Parliament ends with 100 million FCFA donation to anti COVID-19 fund

The National Assembly in Cameroon has donated the sum of 100 million francs CFA to the national solidarity fund for the fight against COVID-19 in Cameroon.
The Speaker of the house Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril handed the sum to Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute Thursday, July 9, 2020.

Speaking at the closing ceremony to mark the end of the June parliamentary session, the Speaker of the National Assembly applauded president Paul Biya’s decision to increase the retirement age of health workers in the public service by describing the gesture as a measure to enhance a proper health system in the country.

The lawmakers go on a recess after close to thirty days of debates and discussions on how to ameliorate laws in the country.

A total of seven bills were adopted by the two legislative houses among them the controversial bill regulating cultural associations in the country. The bills adopted are expected to be promulgated to law by the president of the Republic.

The session equally witnessed the swearing in of a member of the constitutional council in the person of professor Joseph Owona.
