UN Development Programme outlines recovery plan for North West and South West regions

UN Development Programme outlines recovery plan for North West and South West regions.

Due to the devastating effects of the Armed Conflict in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon on people living in these regions and those that have been rendered homeless (refugees and Internally Displaced Persons).

It spans from material destruction, killing of people and a total state of disorder that has psychologically frustrated many people.

To address the situation, the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP says support for the affected communities in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon is key. Cameroon being principally an agricultural country, UNDP says the strengthening of the women and youths will boast the economy that has been greatly affected since the beginning of the Anglophone crisis in 2016.

Also, it states through its support program that women and youths will benefit from vocational training, where skills on income generating activities shall be learnt.

The UNDP having extensive knowledge in providing recovery assistance in crisis settings also says that the UN Secretary General’s New Way Of Working (NWOW) during conflicts and war (Humanitarian/Recovery/Peace Nexus) is vital for the conflict stricken NW and SW Regions of Cameroon.
