A 45-year-old man in Migori County, Kenya, committed suicide on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, after his wife refused to cook him chicken.
The man, identified as John Rugala, had a disagreement with his wife over the chicken, which belonged to their daughter. The woman told Rugala that she would not cook the chicken because it was for their daughter, but Rugala became angry and sent her away from the house.
Rugala then locked himself in the house and set himself on fire. His neighbors tried to save him, but he was too badly burned. He died at the scene.
The police are investigating the incident, but they believe that Rugala’s suicide was caused by his anger over the chicken.
This is a tragic case of domestic violence, and it is a reminder of the importance of seeking help if you are in an abusive relationship.
