Krys M wins Artist of The Year at Balafon Music Awards

Cameroonian sensation Megne Noubissi Christelle, popularly known as Krys M, emerged as the Artist of the Year at the 11th edition of the Balafon Music Awards.

The glittering event took place on December 21 at the Best Western Hotel in Douala, honouring outstanding achievements in the Cameroonian music industry.

Krys M, a 28-year-old musical prodigy, has been making waves with a string of hits, notably “Chacun Sa Chance,” boasting an impressive 38 million YouTube views, and “Qui Croira Verra,” which has garnered 22 million YouTube views.

The Artist of the Year accolade solidifies Krys M’s status as a dominant force in the Cameroonian music scene.

The Balafon Music Awards, an esteemed entertainment event, serve as a platform to acknowledge the hard work and success of Cameroonian artists throughout the year.

This year’s edition featured 16 categories, recognising both emerging talents and established icons who have left an indelible mark on the music landscape.

The event honored artists across various categories, including the prestigious Balafon of Honour, awarded to Grace Decca and Achille Mbanga.

Lucky +2’s “Donne ma part” secured the Religious Inspirational Song award, while Fadil Le Sorcier’s “Lande” triumphed in the Traditional Inspirational Song category.

Phillbill was celebrated as the Best Beat Maker, while the Best Collaboration accolade went to Fadil Le Sorcier ft Ako-C for the remix of “Lande.”

The Revelation of the Year title was bestowed upon Fadil Le Sorcier, highlighting the artist’s rising prominence.

Additional winners included Ko-c, recognised for the Best Dance Video with “Deux Œufs Spaghettis,” and Phillbill’s “Bikossa” ft Stifler90, Ego & Prido, securing the Best Video of the Year award.

Charlotte Dipanda was crowned Female Voice of the Year, with Locko claiming the Male Voice of the Year title.

Blanche Bailly’s “Authentik” was honoured as the Best EP Maxi Single of the Year, while Ko-C’s “Genesis” secured Album of the Year.

Fadil Le Sorcier’s collaboration with Ko-c on the remix of “Lande” earned them the coveted Song of the Year title.

In the global music arena, Libianca stood out, winning the Best International Performance category.

The night culminated with the announcement of Krys M as the Artist of the Year, marking a pinnacle moment in the artist’s career.

While artists like Ko-c, Blanche Bailly, and Libianca basked in their victories, it’s worth noting that this year’s Balafon Music Awards showcased the vibrancy and diversity of the Cameroonian music scene.
