Cameroon’s Kuma Ruth Ndain Shines as 1st Runner-Up at Miss Tourism Worldwide 2026

Cameroon’s Kuma Ruth Ndain has emerged as one of the standout figures at the Miss Tourism Worldwide 2026 pageant, finishing as 1st runner-up in a competitive international field that brought together contestants from across the globe.

The crown went to Anna De Mesa of the Philippines during the grand finale held at the Forest City Golf Resort in Johor Bahru. Estonia’s Geili Meigas placed second runner-up, followed by Belgium’s Milana Roothooft and Thailand’s Khemjira Kusontipjaroen.

But for many observers, it was Kuma Ruth Ndain’s journey, from the hills of Kom in Cameroon to the global stage in Malaysia, that defined one of the most compelling narratives of the night.

A Scientist on the Runway

Born in 1998 in Kom, in Cameroon’s North West Region, Ndain represents a growing generation of African women redefining beauty pageants beyond aesthetics.

She is a trained geologist, holding both a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and a Master’s degree in Geosciences, and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Yaoundé I (UY1). Alongside her academic pursuits, she serves as a supervising geologist with Cameroon Mining Action/Jinder and Steel, a role that places her at the intersection of science, industry, and environmental responsibility.

Her presence on the Miss Tourism Worldwide stage reflects a broader shift in global pageantry, where intellect, advocacy, and professional achievement are increasingly central to contestants’ profiles.

A Proven Force in Pageantry

Ndain is no stranger to the spotlight. Before her international success in Malaysia, she had already built an impressive portfolio of titles, including:

  • Miss Flambeau d’Afrique Cameroon
  • Miss Limbe International Fashion Week of Arts and Style
  • Miss Fashion Festival Africa Top Model

These accolades have positioned her as one of Cameroon’s leading figures in fashion and pageantry, blending elegance with purpose.

Advocacy Beyond the Crown

Beyond the runway, Kuma Ruth Ndain is deeply engaged in environmental sustainability, particularly in waste management advocacy — a cause closely aligned with her background in geosciences.

She also champions child protection and wellbeing, using her platform to raise awareness on issues affecting vulnerable communities.

Her interests extend to modelling, pageantry, and handball, reflecting a multidimensional personality that resonates with both youth and professional audiences.

A Global Platform for Tourism and Culture

The Miss Tourism Worldwide pageant, organized by Singapore-based Lumiere International Pte Ltd under the leadership of Tan Quek Justina, aims to promote cultural exchange and tourism diplomacy.

The 2026 edition featured contestants from across continents, with the Top 10 including representatives from France, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Portugal.

Cameroon’s Rising Global Voice

Kuma Ruth Ndain’s achievement marks a significant moment for Cameroon on the international stage, reinforcing the country’s growing visibility in global pageantry.

More importantly, her story underscores a powerful narrative, that African women are not only competing globally but are doing so while bringing academic excellence, professional expertise, and social advocacy into spaces traditionally dominated by aesthetics.

As she returns home with the title of 1st runner-up, Ndain carries not just a sash but a platform, one that bridges science, sustainability, and global representation.
