Kumba: Borehole cleaner dies while on duty

A well cleaner popularly known as Big steps is reported to have died while carrying out his duty in the Kang Barombi neighbourhood, Kumba III Subdivision, South West Region.

The man, who for the past years had specialized in the cleaning of wells to earn a living, unfortunately, met his doom recently.

According to FM Express 91.5, Big Steps who “… had gone deep inside the well to clean it and make the water potable, was trapped and unable to execute the job he had been earning a living from over the years.”

“All attempts to eject himself to the surface proved futile before an alarm was raised.
Efforts by elements of the Army Rescue Unit who were called in and the population to rescue him were too late as he suffocated to death,” They went on.

His body was later taken to the mortuary, pending burial.
