Kumba-Buea Road: Truck crushes 15-year-old hawker’s leg at control post

By Amina Hilda

A dump truck transporting sand is reported to have crushed the legs of a 15-year-old hawker at a control point along the Kumba-Buea Road in the South West Region of Cameroon.

The tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in the locality of Mabonji, Mbonge Subdivision in the outskirts of Kumba.

Narrating the incident, Express FM Radio noted that, “the holiday hawker rushed to a Toyota Carina vehicle on board the driver and passengers to sell Garcinia kola fondly known as Bitter kola.”

“In the process, the passenger vehicle in an attempt to hurriedly make way to the oncoming truck at a speed brake, pulled the child’s clothes with one of its doors, causing her to fall on the tarmac. This exposed her to the merciless truck on high speed that smashed her legs,” they furthered.

Unable to withstand the shock from the incident, two of the hawker’s sisters collapsed on the spot but were revived by members of the public.

The young girl was rushed to a medical unit in Kumba where she is currently receiving treatment.
