The Divisional Officer, DO of the Kumba I Subdivision in Meme division of the South West region, Ali Anougu, has called on commercial bike riders in his area of command to distance themselves from the activities of Amba fighters.
According to reports, commercial bike riders staged a protest following the death of their colleague who according to them was innocent.
Elijah, a commercial biker in the city of Kumba was reportedly gunned down by the forces of law and order after being identified as a separatist fighter.
The deceased was shot on Sunday May 22 at Mbanya Street in the Hausa Quarter vicinity in Kumba II Subdivision where he was reportedly carrying attacks. He was killed by security forces.
It is in this light that the Divisional Officer called on the commercial bikers to dissociate with such persons and maintain cleanliness in their sector.
According to Ali, ” I want to use this opportunity to sensitize and tell commercial riders that these are not the type of people that they have to protect. They should denounce fellows of this nature and clean their sector. They should make sure those who are riding bikes are clean boys and innocent boys “.
The D O went further to call on those still in the bushes to surrender their arms and come home. ” I’m calling on all those who are still holding these guns, who still come to use this type of equipment to make money. They should drop these guns, they should leave the forest and come back home.” He said.
The killed suspected fighter however leaves behind a wife and two children to mourn his demise.
