Kumbo, the divisional headquarters of Bui Division, and many other localities in the North-West Region have gone for close to six months without electricity.
The residents complain about the blackouts amidst insecurity that makes it difficult for their children to study in the evening.
According to a local broadcaster in the community, the absence of a constant electricity supply is the major cause of the sufferings the people go through.
“Those using gas plants to offer services charge exorbitant amounts which weigh on the common man”, the local broadcaster said.
He says patients are suffering in the hospitals, and questions how the hospital even stores vaccines and carries out operations.
He regrets the fact that broken poles and destroyed cables are everywhere but no one seems to care about it. The case of Kumbo is very pathetic he said.
Mimi Mefo Info notes that the former Mayor of Kumbo, Njong Donatus is the Assistant National Coordinator of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions. He seems to have forgotten that Kumbo is in need of reconstruction.
