Cameroonian music star Lady Ponce has called for a radical change in the country’s political landscape, urging youths to register massively on the electoral list in view of the 2025 presidential elections.

Lady Ponce urged Cameroonian youth to consider change as a top priority, stressing that the future of the country depends on the commitment of each citizen.

She stressed the need to no longer be mere passive spectators, but rather unite in the same direction to shape a better future for Cameroon.

The artist also warned against tribal manipulation, calling for unity and solidarity beyond ethnic differences. She insisted that youth deserve their rightful place in society and that it is time for them to be respected and considered.

“Go and register massively on the electoral lists,” she said encouraging young people to follow the example of countries where the people are sovereign.

Lady Ponce stressed the urgency of change, clearly expressing the desire that Cameroon ceases to be a place where the youth and the less fortunate feel abandoned.

In short, the artist called for the recognition of the country’s young talents, expressing the hope that Cameroon becomes an “island of happiness” for all its citizens.

Her message is clear: registration on the electoral lists and the expression of individual votes are crucial steps towards a better future for Cameroon.

The call comes in the wake of preparations for Presidential, legislative and Municipal elections in 2025.

Calls for massive participation have been echoing strongly in the country with the Catholic Church, through the National Episcopal Conference of Bishops, adding its voice to the call for political participation.

Many youths however appear to have lost interest in the country’s politics and the objectivity of the electoral system, which the opposition says has been frauded to keep long-serving President Paul Biya in power for 42 years now.

It is yet uncertain whether the President, who will be 92 in 2025, will contest in next year’s election.

Militants of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement party are clamouring for his candidacy.
