A landslide on Thursday night killed four people who were extracting gravel from a quarry site in the Florina District of Maroua, Far North Region.
Reports say four people, including three women and a girl, were buried them under a heap of stones.
Emergency services from the 401th Fire Company of Maroua were immediately alerted, and volunteers rushed to the scene to search for survivors and retrieve the bodies.
Volunteers also saved two survivors from the incident.
The news of the landslide prompted Far North Regional Governor, Midjiyawa Bakary, along with other city officials, to visit the scene of the tragedy.
Their presence aimed to provide support to the affected community and to assess the situation firsthand.
