Landslide kills mother, three children in Yaounde

A woman by name Mama Briggite and her three children perished in a landslide that occurred in the Mimboman neighborhood, in Yaounde, Center Region of Cameroon.

The tragic incident occurred on October 18, 2022, at a place known as “derrière le lycée”

According to a local of the neighborhood, “People spent the time digging for the charcoal. I begged them each time not to dig anymore… As they dug, the earth became weak and finally collapsed.”

She added that the “… earth supporting the house swayed over those who were in the ravine below,” leaving mama Brigitte and her three children lifeless.

After the incident, the Divisional Officer for Yaounde 4, the commander of the 17th district and the elements of the national corps of firefighters immediately descended on the scene to coordinate the extraction of the bodies.
