Part of the home of late Ni John Fru Ndi, former opposition leader, and SDF party chairman has been set ablaze. The home in Baba II, a village in Santa Subdivision Mezam division of the North West region was set ablaze on Friday, July 14, 2023.

MMI gathered that locals got up early Friday morning to see part of the building reduced to ashes.

Nobody was living in the building when the incident occurred, sources say.

Ambazonia Separatist fighters are suspected to have carried out the fire attack.

It should be noted that weeks ago, Samuel Ikome Sako, one of the factional leaders of the Ambazonia independence struggle circulated an audio message, “warning against the burial of late  Fru Ndi in ‘Ambazonia'”

Late chairman Ni John Fru Ndi had entered the bad books of the Separatist movement following his unblinking stands for a peaceful resolution of grievances and for advocating a return to a Federal structure of governance in Cameroon.

The attack was carried out at a time when preparations for his burial reached its climax.

According to a funeral program released by the family, “He will be buried on July 29, 2023, Baba II.”

At the time of this report, the family was busy holding an event in Manchester UK, to celebrate the life and legacy of the fallen statesman.

He will be buried on the 29th of July, 2023 in his native Baba II.
