Lawyer sues colleague for evicting him from Whatsapp group

Edieke Jumbo, a Nigerian lawyer based in Akwa Ibom has dragged his colleague to court and claimed 5 million Naira for evicting him from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branch Whatsapp group.

According to reports, Edieke Jumbo accused Uboho Atang, his fellow lawyer and Public Relations Officer of the NBA of “depriving him of his right to association and expression,” local media reports.

In addition to the 5 million Naira, Edieke Jumbo is claiming several other enumerated reliefs from his colleague for “Blatantly infringing his fundamental rights of religion, expression and association”.

“…Another member stated that Mr. Jumbo had at one point on the platform accused the Chairman of the Branch of being incompetent citing his difficulty in accessing the lawyers’ Stamp and seal. A development which resulted in the Chairman mandating the PRO to excuse him from the group,” local sources stated.

The case will be presented at the High Court of Justice, Court 7, Uyo Division on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
