Traditional rulers of Lekie Division of the Centre Region have addressed a strong-worded letter to President Paul Biya in which they have said they won’t receive Martinez Zogo’s mutilated body, stating that it should be buried in Mvomeka, Biya’s village.

In a statement they read today at Soa, the place where Zogo’s battered body was found on Sunday, the Chiefs also declared a ‘Ghost Town’ on Monday, January 30, aimed to mourn their lost son.

“Our son, Arsène Salomon Mbami Zogo, known as Martinez Zogo, was savagely murdered, tortured, sodomized, horribly mutilated and thrown like an animal in this place. Our son was taken from us in the worst possible way. The modus operandi of the [murderers] who killed him and their sponsors indicates that this is a crime involving the State Security Services,” the Chiefs said.

They further told Biya: “Our son, Martinez Zogo, was a strong supporter of your regime. He adored you. He was your son. Ultimately, you were his idol. The populations of Lékie, through our voice, demand that justice be done to them, that these criminals be arrested and brought to justice immediately.”

They said the cruel killing of Martinez Zogo is a humiliation to them.

An autopsy report revealed the former managing director of Amplitude FM in Yaounde was tortured in most dehumanizing ways, forced to eat his faeces and his fingers chopped off.

His body was only dumped at Soa on the outskirts of Yaounde on Sunday, five days after he was abducted and killed.

“His killers rotted him and left us with nothing but the maggots. Consequently, we refuse to receive these maggots in the Lékié and propose that the remains of Martinez Zogo be transported to Mvomeka andthat he be buried in the family vault of the President, you his Father. A delegation of traditional chiefs and populations of Lékié will make the trip to your village to attend the funeral,” Lekie Chiefs said.

They are the latest group to condemn the killing of Martinez Zogo, as several calls have been made nationally and internationally for the Cameroon Government to investigate and prosecute his killers.
