The Mayor of the Limbe City Council, Paul Efome Ngale has outlined plans to develop one of the town’s main tourist destinations, Down Beach.
He made the announcement at a press conference marking his first 100 days in office today.
A project, he told the press, is on course to realise “the transformation of down beach…”
The Limbe City Council under his leadership, he stated, is venturing into new sources. This, “… while working on effective revenue collection from other traditional sources.”
Down Beach is one of many tourist sites in the seaside town. An open space for all, it provides a first hand view of the sea, spiced by fishing boats and and fresh seafoods on sale.
Unlike private beaches and other tourist sites, the beach had often come under criticism for its untidy nature and lack of toilets and waste disposal structures.
The Limbe City Mayor also announced the decision to keep alive the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC). Over the years, FESTAC was one of the most pronounced cultural events in the South West Region, pulling thousands from different parts of the country and he globe.
