Feasibility studies have commenced in view of constructing the second major access road into the city of Limbe in the South West Region.

The new road, which will be constructed by the Limbe City Council (LCC), will link neighbouring Tiko town to Limbe through the Limbe Slave Trade Village to Man O’ War Bay, according to the LCC.

Mayor Paul Efome Ngalle, made the revelation at the City Council’s first-quarter evaluation session on April 30, during which he outlined a record improvement in revenue collection during the last fiscal year.

The LCC recorded a 14 percent increase in revenue collection during the first quota of 2023 as compared to 2023.

Mayor Ngalle attributed this increase to the collaborative efforts of the population of Limbe and pledged to double efforts to further improve revenue collection in the coming months.

“This increase is a booster for the population of Limbe for their wonderful collaboration. For us to get to the avenue of innovative finance that we will be engaging in the months ahead.”

With a focus on development, says the second access road into the city will ease traffic and dis enclave the Limbe III area which hosts the famous Mabeta fishing port and the Limbe Slave Trade Village, a major touristic site.

Additionally, the Council plans to install street lights within the city to enhance safety and security.

During the evaluation session, Viang Mekala, the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, praised the City Council for its warm reception and encouraged continued teamwork to build a better Limbe municipality.
