Limbe: Military Man Threatens Neighbour With Gun in Land Dispute

Video footage has emerged of a supposed military man threatening a man with his gun in Makoka quarter in Limbe, South West Region of Cameroon.

Sources say the soldier threatened to shoot him due to a land dispute that has dragged on for over six months now.

The alleged military officer, whose name we got as Mr. Ekwasum Stephen reportedly encroached into the land by extending his construction work.

He is said to have threatened to kill the owner of the land if he reproaches him from intruding again.

“…he is building past the land, and when my father-in-law reproached him, he came out with his gun and threatened everyone. He even broke the door and told them that he is the law,” the victim’s relative recounted.

Mr. Akwenta Lucas, the owner of the land, is said to have reported the threats to his life by the soldier to Gendarmerie authorities he says are trying to reconcile them both. Thisnis after they examined the issue and said he was right

Nevertheless, the soldier has not been sanctioned for using his gun to threaten a civilian.

Such occurrences have become common in the Anglophone Regions since the start of the armed conflict.

It is the innocent civilians who have been at the forefront of these acts of bullying from soldiers and gunmen who have resorted to acting without indignation, because they will not be reproached by their superiors.
