Love Triumphs as Derick and Patience Welcome a Baby Girl

Derick Kwoyela, the 39-year-old teacher, and his wife, Patience Kahboh, 28, have joyfully welcomed a new member into their family—a baby girl. The couple’s inspiring love journey continues as they defy societal norms and stereotypes to embrace love and marriage.

The couple, who got married in April 2023 in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon, shared the happy announcement on their official Facebook page. They said, “Good morning, family.” I am finally finished. The Lord has done it with great might. We invite you to join us in welcoming a bouncing baby girl into our family. As you celebrate, please don’t forget to share.”

Kwoyela Derick, commonly known as DK, faced societal stereotypes due to his “person of short stature” status, but this new development adds a beautiful chapter to his story. Derick’s struggles and the societal challenges he encountered in finding love and acceptance.

Derick told MMI that he met and fell in love with Kahboh Patience, a 28-year-old seamstress, in January 2022. Despite facing societal intolerance, the couple persisted in their love, with Derick expressing his admiration for Patience’s character, respect, and strong religious values.

Derick and Patience stood strong against naysayers, especially during the planning of their wedding. “We faced one of our biggest obstacles when we were planning to get married. Derick revealed that her friends and some people close to her were complaining and asking why she was getting married to a short man like me,” Derick said.

A traditional wedding took place in Bali Nyonga on April 6, 2023, and a white wedding ceremony took place in Bamenda on April 8.

The couple’s story becomes even more heartwarming with the arrival of their baby girl. Derick promises to take good care of his wife, and Patience commits to standing by her husband ‘for better and for worse’, extending it to their growing family.

“I have promised to take good care of my wife. I want our story to be an inspiration to everyone, including those who have lost hope in love. There is a chance and someone special for us all,” Derick told MMI.

The couple stirred social media sensation from when they announced their union until when they got married and after.

After their wedding, the duo has remained committed to each other, displaying genuine love and winning the hearts of their thousands of followers on Facebook and TikTok.
