Lunar Crescent Commission unveils possible date for start of Ramadan fast

The National Commission of the Lunar Crescent has released possible date for the start of the Ramadan fast for Muslims in Cameroon.

The revelation was made in a release signed on Saturday, March 11.

The Commission stated that the search for the lunar crescent, which will mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan, will be done on Tuesday, March 21.

“If the lunar crescent is published on this date, the 1st day of Ramadan will be Wednesday, March 22, 2023,” the release stated.

The release further noted: “Otherwise, the month of Shaaban will be completed at 30 days and the start of Ramadan will be Thursday.”

In this light, the National Commission of the Lunar Crescent called on the Muslim Community “to intensify prayers throughout the month of Ramadan”.
