Major National Dialogue: Barrister Mbah Eric Says All Cards Must Be Put On The Table

“Every topic should be on the table,” Barrister Mbah Eric Mbah, Bar Council representative for the North West Region tells Mimi Mefo info after a crucial consultative meeting Saturday.

Speaking to mimimefoinfo.com shortly after attending the meeting chaired by the Regional Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique geared towards preparing the North West Region for the upcoming national dialogue, Barrister Mbah Eric Mbah says dialogue in the current situation in the crisis in the North West and South West Regions should be interpreted as, going to the root causes of the problem.

“If not, we will only be turning around the same point,” he says.

With regards to what many have termed “preconditions for dialogue”, the legal mind says: “In conflict resolution, where there is a deep rooted crisis like what obtains in Anglophone Cameroon, issues like Amnesty, the call for a ceasefire, designation of a neutral and independent moderator, the choice of a convenient venue for both parties should be prioritised, not as pre-conditions but as enabling conditions that ensure a confidence building mechanism.”

While appreciating the call for dialogue by the Head of State Paul Biya, the legal mind says it is late, “but better late than never”.
He adds that there should be no restriction on any topic brought to the table.
A review of the constitution, he says, should be an item on the dialogue table and that everybody should be involved.
