Major News Summaries – February 18, 2022

Hundreds of Cameroonians converged on Brussels, Belgium where the European Union – African Union summit is ongoing protesting against the government’s poor handling of Anglophone crisis, and President Paul Biya’s 39-year-long rule. President Biya is represented at the summit by Minister of State, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.


Concerns have been raised over President Paul Biya’s representation at the EU-AU summit in Brussels by the Secretary General at the Presidency instead of the Prime Minister. To many, the action reveals that the PM is not the President’s second-in-command in administrative duties.


Councils in Boyo Division, North West Region have established a union to work for their common interest. The body has as primary aim boosting development across the division.


The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie urged Cameroonians to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 pandemic. He also reminded previously vaccinated Cameroonians to get their next doses of the vaccine.

Samuel Eto’o Fils has requested an additional time from the FECAFOOT executive board for him to reflect on the fate of the Indomitable Lions head coach. This comes after the FECAFOOT boss was given 72 hours to make the decision. Eto’o promised to give the verdict on February 23, 2022.


Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses, today thrashed Gambia 8-0 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. The match counts for qualifiers of the upcoming Africa Women Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022.
