Separatist Ambazonia fighters have reportedly burnt Eshobi village in Mamfe, Manyu division of the South West region, MMI has gathered.

Five civilians, according to a report, were also abducted, and one was killed by the gunmen.

The incident reportedly occurred on the night of Saturday, January 28, 2023.

“Amba boys came into the village at about 10pm Saturday night and burned houses,” a local source told MMI.

The source added,”……they abducted five people, and one person by the name of Tabot Nyenty was killed in the process.”

According to reports gathered, the village attracted the wrath of the fighters following the setting up of a military base in the locality by the government.

“They burned the village down because Eshobi village has a military base,” the source continued.

Eyewitnesses say that the separatist fighters did what they did while government soldiers looked on and did nothing.

Locals are yet to understand why military personnel stationed in their locality cannot protect them in times of need.
