Manchester CityEnglish Premier League EPL Champions 2022/2023
Manchester City have celebrated their latest Premier League title with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday.
After Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s treble-chasing side had already been crowned champions for the sixth time in six seasons.
That meant the Etihad Stadium was in a joyful mood for the Blues’ visit, and a much-changed team gave the fans another reason to shout with an early Julian Alvarez goal.
Chelsea had a few bright spots, but City, despite not matching the passion with which they destroyed Real Madrid in midweek, seemed to be in complete control.Manchester City trailed Arsenal by eight points with one game remaining on April 7th.
It is only the fourth time in Premier League history that a team has been as much as eight points ahead after at least 28 games and failed to win the title.
City won 11 consecutive league games while their championship rivals crumbled, dropping just two points from a possible 42 to overtake Arsenal and claim a sixth title in six years with two games remaining.
Erling Haaland is making the most of his first Premier League title, elevating the trophy to the cheers of the crowd before resting it on his head.
He still has four games left in his debut season in England to add to his 52 goals (36 in the EPL).
