Man dies in Yaounde after being stabbed by BIR element

The Cameroon security corps again is in the news for scuffles with civilians leading to another death. Last Sunday in Yaounde, a young man lost his life after he got stabbed by a BIR officer in Efoulan.

According to the reports from Radio Tiemeni Siantou, the young man whose identity they chose not to reveal was stabbed to death by an element of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) during a fight that broke out at a drinking spot where both men were.

The radio reported “After the incident, the man in uniform wanting to take to flight inadvertently dropped his official documents which subsequently allowed those present at the scene to identify him. He is an element of the BIR assigned to Bertoua in the East region”.

The alleged murderer is currently under detention at the Efoulan Brigade and investigations into the case have been opened.
This unfortunate incident comes barely less than one week after a gendarme officer lost his life at the FINEXS Bus agency in Douala after he got into a serious scuffle with one of the sanitary officials for not paying FCFA 100 after relieving himself at the toilet facilities of the agency.

Unconfirmed reports say the second gendarme who was equally involved in the fight has also died barely some days after his colleague passed away.
