Man Nabbed for Deceptive Scams Posing as a Woman in Nigeria

Locals in Jos, Northern Nigeria, have reportedly apprehended a man who specialises in defrauding men by posing as a woman.

According to local reports, the man went on multiple dates with unsuspecting men who perceived him as a beautiful woman.

“He ate free meals plus takeaway and also collected transport and ‘thanks for coming’… When it reaches time to go have an affair, he will turn them down indefinitely,” revealed Kelly Hassino, a resident of Jos.

In viral images, the man can be seen wearing a gown and a tie with material embedded in the breast and buttocks to create the illusion of a curvier figure, seemingly attractive to his targets.

“Man who is cashing out by disguising as a woman runs out of luck as he gets caught,” confirmed the renowned Nigerian entertainment blog, Remedy Blog, in an Instagram post.

In response to the post, a significant number of social media users did not see any justifiable reason for his apprehension.

“Y’all are funny,” said Mandy Moore, adding, “Did he hold a gun to their heads? No! You approached shim, and shim agreed, and while at it, shim was wise. Why are they apprehending Shim? What are your reasons?”

“Is this a crime?” questioned another user, Dukepetre, urging the population to focus on the insecurity issues plaguing the country.

To Donel, “even a blind man shouldn’t find such a man attractive,” he remarked.

The phenomenon of men resorting to deceptive practices, like disguising as women to scam others, may, in part, be linked to the challenges young individuals face in finding stable employment opportunities.

Economic hardships and high unemployment rates can create a sense of desperation, leading some to engage in unscrupulous activities for financial gain.
