Man who won case against WhatsApp admin returns to court after being humiliated again

By Amina Hilda

A Ugandan man, Baitwababo Herbert, who won a court case against a WhatsApp Administrator has returned to court after being ‘humiliated’ by the group members.

The man on June 23, 2023, won a lawsuit against a WhatsApp group admin who removed him from the ‘Buyanja My Roots’ group.

While describing the nature of the forum, Baitwababo Herbert noted that “If there is like a medical camp to treat our people who cannot get treatment, we contribute. If there is a calamity in school like a burnt dormitory, we contribute…”

The man was removed by the admin in May 2023, after he questioned the management of finances in the said group.

While in court, the Whatsapp admin was ordered to reinstate the complainant into the Whatsapp forum but shortly after he was readmitted, as ordered by the court, members of the group began exiting one after another.

They formed a new group while Baitwababo Herbert remained the only member in the ‘Buyanja My Roots’ Whatsapp group.

Angered by the gesture, the man has decided to once more seize the court to report that which he considers humiliating to his personality.

This case is far from over.

In Nigeria, a lawyer recently dragged a WhatsApp group admin for kicking him out of the group.
