Maroua rejects “Movement 10 Million de Nordistes”, embraces President Biya

The people of Maroua in the Far North region of Cameroon say they are not part of a movement called “Movement 10 Million de Nordistes” banned recently by the Minister of Territorial Administration.

In a meeting in Maroua Sunday, November 29, 2020, militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, converged on Maroua to pledge their unconditional support to President Paul Biya.

They agree with the minister of Territorial Administration who described the movement as an unpatriotic movement championing division in Cameroon.

Cameroonians have been expressing mixed feelings following such a rally organised by Northerners to reject a movement of Northerners put in place to champion the respect of the rights of Notherners. Some think the move is politically motivated by militants of the ruling CPDM party.

The demand of “Movement 10 Million de Nordistes” demand the respect of the 30% admission quota of Northerners into the national school of administration and magistracy, ENAM. This sparked the decision banning the movement.
