UNICEF rehabilitates pipe-borne water taps in Nkongho Mbeng after landslide damaged roads, water catchments

The United Nations International Children Emergency Fund, UNICEF, has rehabilitated water taps in Nkongho Mbeng locality in Ekondo Titi Subdivision.

The Nkongho Mbeng community is made up of Mbetta, Lekwe, and Dinte Villages.

They now have pipe-borne water supply with five taps constructed at Dinte alone by UNICEF.

“They (UNICEF) helped in the rehabilitation of pipe-borne water destroyed during landslide… And we beg the Government and NGOs to help us complete the rehabilitation of a good bridge where the road was cut off,” said Fotoh Anslem, a native of Nkongho Mbeng community.

The community is equally bereaved after losing Elumba Terence, one of the development advocates who championed the rehabilitation of the road, which was damaged by a landslide.

He “left us all in shock given his selfless sacrifice towards the development of Nkongho-Mbeng … Apart from helping in development, he was a great prayer warrior with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal,” lamented Fotoh Anslem.

He added that lorries and pickups can ply the once impassable road thanks to the late Terence’s effort and those of Fontem Belamin and Fonji Ernest, their Community Development Committee leaders.
