Martinez Zogo’s widow granted Gendarmerie protection after crying out for her life

The Gendarmerie has reportedly been instructed to protect Diane Zogo, the widow of murdered radio host, Martinez Zogo, a day after her lawyer said she was attacked and her vehicle vandalised.

Equinoxe television reported that the Gendarmerie will henceforth be responsible for her safety, after she requested protection from the State Secretariat of Defence for the Gendarmerie.

Her family lawyer, Calvin Job, told journalists at a press conference in Yaounde on Monday that Diane Zogo was followed two weeks back by unidentified men, who broke the windscreen of her vehicle.

Also, whistle blower, Paul Chouta, noted that Gendarmes have been instructed to monitor her compound and neighborhood to ensure her safety.

Her husband’s abduction and murder last month prompted nationwide and international outcry that let to the arrest of several top ranking people who are suspected to have participated in the crime.

Aside Diane Zogo, Equinoxe journalist Guy Zogo also said his life is in danger and he has been threatened with death for his continuous reporting on the issue.
