Meet Ugandan man with 102 children, 578 grandchildren

In the village of Bugisa in Butaleja district, a remote rural area of eastern Uganda lives a 68-year-old man — who has 102 children and 578 grandchildren.

Musa Hasayha, strange as it may sound, is unable to master the names of his own children due to their huge number.

The villager has designed a list containing the names of his children which according to him easily identify the various children.

In an interview with BBC, Musa revealed that the 102 children were brought forth through his 12 wives considering that polygamy is legal in Uganda.

“Out of the 102 children, we lost four. As for now, we are left with 98 children,” Musa said.

The 98 children in question were able to bare 578 grandchildren in turn which according to Musa is posing a great problem to him.

He said, “I possess only two hectares of land which I inherited from my father. Taking care of all these children with these hectares of land is a huge problem for me.”

He added “From finding school fees to providing food for everyone, to finding clothes and money in case anyone falls sick, it has not been easy on my side.”

According to Musa, he has resorted to putting his wives on family planning in a bid to reduce the number of children being born in his home.

“When I realized that the children are too many, I decided to put my wives on family planning,” Musa said.

Zabina Hasahya, one of Musa’s wives revealed she usually got upset each time her husband brought home a new wife but would later get used to it.

As for Magu Shaban, a teacher and son of Musa, his father’s condition has brought him to realize that such a family is not the best.
