A tragic road accident in Widikum, Momo Division of the North-West Region, has left two people dead and one in critical condition after a military-armoured vehicle reportedly knocked down a motorcycle carrying three individuals.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were returning from their farm on a bike when the incident occurred on April 23rd. Sources have further identified the deceased as a man and his teenage son, both of whom passed away instantly. The bike rider, the third victim, fights for his life with severe head injuries and receives urgent medical attention at a nearby health facility.

Locals further confirmed that the armoured vehicle, believed to be part of a routine patrol, did not stop after the collision and continued its journey without offering assistance or acknowledging the incident.

This has led to outrage among community members and social media users. They have criticised what they describe as a growing pattern of disregard for civilian lives during the ongoing armed conflict in the region.

“This is not the first time we are witnessing such reckless behaviour,” a local resident said in a video circulating online.

“These are innocent farmers trying to survive, and now a family has been shattered in a matter of seconds.” Said another at the scene of the incident.

Authorities are yet to make an official statement regarding the incident.

The situation remains tense in Widikum as residents express fear over their safety amidst continued military operations in the area.
