The Nigerian journalist who co-hosted the AFCON Draws got many Cameroonians raging after making a big deal of her struggle with a mosquito in her hotel room in Cameroon.
Many Cameroonians saw this tweet by her as highly disrespectful to a country which had given her a warm welcome for the few days she spent in its capital city.
Following the angry reactions from Cameroonians about her comments, the journalist once more took to twitter to apologise to Cameroonians for unintentionally offending them with her tweet.
According to the journalist, the tweet was meant to act as self mockery and not to denigrate the country’s accomodation services like many had interpreted.
“My comments about the mosquitos in my hotel room in Cameroon was self mockery as I had no intention of offending anyone,” she wrote. “My apologies for any offense this may have caused. It was not my intention to do so,” she ended.
Many reactions to her apologies were more softened than when her first tweet was sent out. Cameroonians believe that as an influential personality, her comments about the accommodation services of a country which will be receiving foreigners were not helpful.
