Minister Atanga Nji urges governors to enhance cooperation with population to combat insecurity

Paul Atanga Nji, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration has urged administrative authorities to step up collaboration with the population of their different regions.

He made the declaration in his opening speech, during a meeting with the 10 regional governors today Monday, August 8, in Yaounde.

According to Minister Atanga Nji, getting the right information will permit the law enforcement forces to neutralize the enemy more easily and quickly.

“If the administrative authority has 90% of the right information, the intervention of the law enforcement forces in order to neutralize the enemy becomes easy and quick.”

In order to therefore obtain the right information, the MINAT boss, encouraged the administrative authorities to endeavor to maintain a good relationship with the population.

He said, “to have the right information, the administrative authorities must maintain good collaboration with the civilian population.”

Atanga Nji furthered that “More than ever, the search for provisional intelligence must be a permanent duty of administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies.”

It should however be recalled that on several occasions, cases have been reported of soldiers assaulting and killing civilians, most especially in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.
