Davido, Olamide join other Nigerians to condole with Wizkid after the death of his mother

By Amina Hilda

There has been widespread sorrow in Nigeria’s music industry since the passing of the mother of Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun.

Mrs. Balogun passed away in the wee hours of Friday, August 18, 2023.

Davido, a famous Afrobeat singer, is one of those who have taken to Twitter to condole with his fellow artist.

“Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo Sadness flies away on the wings of time,” Davido reacted on Twitter, now called X.

Another well-known afrobeat artist, Olamide, posted the message “Prayers up for Wiz” on Twitter.

Mrs. Balogun “was always there to cheer him on from the sidelines at concerts and events as his career took off,” reacted another insider.

The woman’s unrelenting dedication to her son’s professional success earned her much praise — even when she was still alive. Today, she is being celebrated for that.

Wizkid has not yet commented publicly on the details of her untimely demise.
