Moting and Anguissa absent for tomorrow’s match against Russia.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will be facing Russia tomorrow, October 12, 2023, in Russia. A few days ago, the head coach, Rigobert Song, released the official list of his squad.

On his list, Choupo Moting and Zambo Anguissa were mentioned as attackers and midfielders, respectively.

The latest information has it that they will both be absent for tomorrow’s encounter for reasons not yet revealed. In place of the two players, Ben Elliot who is the latest signing, has been brought in. 80 percent of the indomitable lions are already in Moscow, awaiting tomorrow’s game.

The upcoming match is scheduled to be held at the Dinamo Lev Yashin Stadium in Moscow tomorrow. It will commence at 7 pm local time, which is equivalent to 5 pm in Cameroon.

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) announced that Cameroon will be playing against Senegal in another friendly match, just four days after the initial game.

According to FECAFOOT, the friendly match is intended to offer the Cameroon national team a high-quality preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifier campaign and their participation in the 2023 AFCON Ivory Coast.

The game is anticipated to be a challenging one for both teams. According to the latest FIFA rankings, Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions are ranked 41st in the world, while Russia holds the 39th position.

The game, which was scheduled to take place at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 15, was unfortunately cancelled a month prior.
No reasons were provided by FECAFOOT for the cancellation. However, pro-Ukrainian news outlets have associated the cancellation with the ongoing war in Ukraine. This conflict has led many countries to be skeptical about engaging openly with Moscow.

However, the decision to reschedule the match for October 12 demonstrates Cameroon’s commitment to maintaining normal relations with Russia, despite ongoing efforts by Western countries to isolate Russia on the international stage.

Cameroon, along with many other African countries, has maintained a largely neutral stance regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The country was one of many African countries that participated in the Russia-Africa Summit, which took place in St. Petersburg from July 27th to 28th.

Do you think Choupo’s and Zambo’s absences will have an effect on the indomitable Lions’ performance tomorrow?
