Mount Cameroon FC founder Calvin Foinding is dead

Cameroonian Member of Parliament, accomplished businessman, and founder of Mount Cameroon Football Club, Hon Calvin Foinding has died.

He passed away on January 30 at the Le Jourdin clinic in Yaoundé due to a cardiac arrest, according to reports.

Hon Foinding made significant contributions to Cameroonian football, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s sports landscape.

The news of his sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the nation, prompting heartfelt tributes from various quarters.

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “FECAFOOT extends its sincere condolences to his immediate family and to the entire football family in peace.”

Hon Foinding’s multifaceted career included managing the Bandjoun Stadium in the West Region before venturing into football leadership where he founded Mount Cameroon FC in 1997.

Under his guidance, the club clinched the Cameroon Cup in 2002.

Beyond the club’s success, Hon Foinding played a pivotal role in nurturing and developing talented players who would go on to make significant contributions to Cameroonian football.

Notable names such as Achille Webo, Daniel Ngom Ngome, Charly Fomen, Eyong Enoh, Benoît Angbwa, and Ndzana Kana emerged from the ranks he cultivated within Mount Cameroon FC.

FECAFOOT acknowledged Hon Foinding’s profound impact on Cameroon’s football landscape, stating that he “left his mark” on the sport.

His passing leaves a void in the football community, and the nation collectively mourns the departure of a passionate and influential figure.
