Mobile telephone company MTN has denied reports that it neglected 18-year-old Fortune Ngassam hit by poles. Ngassam died at a Yaounde hospital after she got hit by two poles which some had said, belong to the company.

It should be recalled, the adolescent is said to have been hit by two poles belonging to MTN Cameroon on April 3, 2021, in Yaounde. Ngassam died in the hospital last Saturday April 2 due to lack of proper treatment and follow up.

In a communique published late Sunday April 3, the company said: “Once we became aware of the matter, the Management of the company notified its Insurer for immediate formalities and actions. In parallel, MTN Cameroon took measures to provide moral support to the family and enhance the medical treatment of Fortune who was then admitted in a hospital in Yaoundé”.

At the time of this report, it Is difficult to establish where the truth lies between What is being said by the family and an NGO that had been following up Ngassam’s health situation. The mobile telephone company MTN ended the communique with a word of condolences and regrets.

“Despite those efforts, Fortune has passed away. MTN Cameroon renews its condolences to the family and friends of the departed and remains by their side in this difficult moment”.
